Our Workshop

11 days of daily workshops covering over 40 hours of theoretical & Practical learning

Day 1 (Beginners)

The Basics of Photography - Theoretical

On our first evening together in San Jose, we will teach you the basics of photography: Shutter Speed, Aperture, and ISO. During this session, we will illustrate how these parameters work and how to manage them efficiently.

After this class, you will understand how light, camera adjustments, and photography composition work in conjunction to create a great picture.

Day 2 (All Levels)

Landscape Photography - Practical

After learning the basics of photography, we will focus on how these parameters work with a practical workshop while enjoying a beautiful sunrise over the Turrialba Volcano.

This practical session will take place during our morning excursion to the Irazu Volcano.

Day 3 (Beginners - All Levels)

Camera Features & Lenses - Theoretical & Practical

For our third day, we will continue our photography journey with two activities. In the morning, we will explore the more technical aspects of our photography equipment, such as different types of cameras, features, and lenses.

In the afternoon, while visiting the Death Valley of the Turrialba Volcano, we will keep practicing using these features and experimenting with our cameras.

Day 4 (All Levels)

Wildlife Photography Workshop - Practical

it’s time for our first on-site wildlife photography workshop.

While visiting the Rancho Naturalista, we will immerse ourselves in the beautiful world of bird photography and you will be able to capture pictures of tropical species like a pro.

Day 5 (All Levels)

History of Photography - Theoretical
Night Photography Workshop - Parctical

On this day, mostly dedicated to Costa Rican gastronomy, you will discover how the medium of photography was born and journey through its evolution over the decades, all while enjoying a cup of Hydro-Honey surrounded by nature.

At night, we will host a night photography workshop in the hotel gardens, and weather permitting, we will capture the night sky and its dazzling stars.

Day 6 (All Levels)

Sunset Photography Workshop - Practical

Once we’ve arrived at Uvita, we will head straight to the beach to catch a stunning sunset. We will photograph the sunset using different techniques learned the previous night during our night/long exposure workshop.

Also, we will uncover how flash can be a useful tool in certain situations, including a sunset.

Day 7 (Beginners - All Levels)

Photo - Editing and Post-Production - Theoretical

After spending the morning photographing the Nauyaca Waterfalls, your SD Cards will be full of pictures you can't wait to show to everyone. During this mid-journey class, we will look back at what we have captured and learn how to select our pictures, as well as how to edit them in the most famous editing application used by both professional and amateur photographers: Adobe Lightroom.

This will be a dynamic class in which you will learn that there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to perspective. After all, photography thrives in an entirely subjective world.

Day 8 (All Levels)

Wildlife Photography Workshop - Practical

During this three-hour journey, we will indulge in the most exciting workshop of the entire course: photographing whales and dolphins.

It’s not every day that you get the opportunity to see these majestic marine animals in the flesh, so keep your eyes peeled and your cameras at the ready, and most of all, be prepared to have a lot of fun!

Day 9 (All Levels)

Bird Photography Workshop pt2 - Practical

By this point in our journey, you will likely have fallen in love with Costa Rica’s people, food, culture, flora, and of course, its fauna. On this day, we will continue to chase the perfect shot of one of the most interesting birds in the tropics: The Quetzal.

Not to mention, we will also enjoy photographing other local animals in the breathtaking area of San Gerardo.

Day 10 (All Levels)

Art of Photography - A Christmas Workshop

On day five, we explored the origins of photography as visual art, so on day ten, we will take a deeper dive into the art of photography by analyzing the work of the world’s top 10 most influential photographers.

This short masterclass serves as a means to be able to openly discuss and evaluate our work in a more critical way.

Day 11 (All Levels)

Summary & Freestyle Photography Session

For our last full day together, there will be nothing holding you back from taking exceptional photos of your surroundings. While visiting the coffee estate, you can put into practice all the things you learned during these past 10 classes.

This day will be focused on artistic enjoyment and experimentation before going back to San Jose.
